Consider Becoming A Mentor
St. Augustine Youth Services, a therapeutic group home for boys, has long been a mission of our church, which has provided tutoring services and financial help. We would now like to expand our contribution and are asking for church members to consider mentorship. The boys residing at SAYS live in group homes where house parents try to provide as home like an environment as possible. However, there is still a great need for these kids to have a one on one relationship with a caring individual. The program is very flexible so you could set up your own weekly or bi-weekly schedule for get togethers, outings, etc. The important thing is being consistent and making the commitment to participate for at least a year. The boys truly look forward to having that special time and attention. If you would like to know more about mentoring, please contact Jim Bullock at (352) 207-5587. He will then get you in touch with SAYS to go ahead with the application and screening process. Every effort is made to match mentors with boys where a common ground can be found. Please consider this opportunity to make a difference in a young life.
