Christmas International House 2013-2014
Memorial Presbyterian Church has hosted International Students through a program called Christmas International House (CIH) for 12 years. Christmas International House was started by a Presbyterian missionary in 1965, this is a 45-year-old nationwide program where the international students and scholars pay their way to the program and the host church or individual will host them during the two week Christmas holiday. The International Students are enrolled and studying in colleges across the United States and instead of going home for the holidays they apply to CIH programs to live in American homes over the holidays.
The 2013-2014 dates for CIH are December 18th-January 2nd. Opportunities include hosting a student at your home for a week, hosting a daytime activity, picking students up at the airport or helping provide a meal. Memorial Presbyterian Church provides many activities for the students including historical tours and boating in St. Augustine, Christmas and New Years Eve activities, hiking at Guana, outings to the Alligator Farm and the Lighthouse, and trips to the beach and Orlando. The International potluck dinner with the CIH students from MPC, St. Giles and Riverside CIH students in the Fellowship Hall is scheduled for December 20th. All MPC members are invited to attend and share food with students from around the world.
