Meet our Youth Intern
Hi! My name is Katherine Sykes, and I am the youth intern here at Memorial Presbyterian Church. I am a senior at Flagler College; I transferred here from my hometown, Arlington, Texas last year. My first year of college I went to Dallas Baptist University and was involved in a ministry where I got to travel to different churches on the weekends with about ten other college students and lead retreats for youth groups. Seeing the Lord work in teens’ lives and allowing him to work through me was so exciting, and I have been searching for a another ministry outlet since then. I did not know when I chose to go to Flagler that the school offered a youth ministry minor, so I was so excited when I found out! I added the minor to my Psychology major, and it was actually my youth ministry professor that told me about the youth internship here at MPC. This internship is an answer to prayer, and I am so excited to see what God has planned! After college I plan to do something involving counseling teens, but I am not sure yet what avenue that will be through; I have considered counseling in a rehab center, but I may just continue to minister through the church. The Lord has blessed me so much over the past year through the opportunities He has given me, the friends I have made, and just getting to live in beautiful Saint Augustine. I am so blessed to be a part of the ministry at this church, and I love getting to know all the middle and high schoolers, as well as everyone else here. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into the MPC family!
