Small Groups to Launch in November
Wednesday, November 9, 2016 FEAST Program; Memorial Presbyterian will launch “Small Groups.” Like the early Christians. Meeting together. Sharing faith together. Sharing hardships. Sharing gratitude. Small groups. Small snacks. Big spiritual rewards – because in small groups, people get close enough to know each other, to care and share, to challenge and support, to laugh and weep together, to watch over each other and to grow together.
Small groups exist as a way for people to engage in biblical community that helps them become more like Jesus in every area of their lives. When Jesus’ ministry began, he called 12 disciples to be his primary “family” and ministry community. Jesus chose to love them, teach them, and pour himself into relationships with them, He created the first “small group.” The apostles continued Jesus’ model and formed small groups or communities of believers. They met, they prayed they loved God and loved one another. Through incredible persecution and against all odds, this unlikely group of Jesus-followers launched small communities (small groups). These small groups proclaimed the gospel, became the church and changed the world forever.
We look forward to your getting involved in MPC Small Groups!
