From Pastor Davies – 9/13/16
Late last week I had a luncheon meeting with the stewardship team that will lead this year’s financial campaign for 2017. They are very excited about MPC and looking forward to leading this important annual giving campaign of the church.
As we begin to think about our individual stewardship response to God’s blessings, I am reminded of the following story:
The pastor of a church announced that if the congregation reached their fund-raising goal, he would allow a clock to be installed beside the pulpit. If they exceeded the goal by $2,000, he would allow it to be plugged in. And if the donation exceeded the goal by $5,000, he promised to look at the clock!
All of us have something that motivates us. This pastor believes getting out of church on time will motivate people to give. For others, giving is motivated by attaining the goal of heaven. But the best motivation of all is giving for the benefit of another; “for God so loved the world that he gave his only Son…..”
Gracious God: Thank you for your magnificent gift. I pray that Jesus will be my motivation and inspiration to give often and always for the sake of others. Amen.
I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday.
