From Pastor Davies – 2/7
By now I hope that you have had the chance to read the Annual Written Report. I consider the report to be an excellent summation of the church’s work and accomplishments during 2016. And, perhaps more importantly, many of the reports identify noteworthy goals and objectives for this year.
If I were to give a “State of the Church” address to you, I would say that Memorial Presbyterian Church is a healthy, vital community of faith. There are challenges here, to be sure. But the fact of the matter is that all churches, no matter the size, have challenges and could always improve their witness for Jesus Christ in their communities.
Consider, if you will, how blessed MPC is. Despite this being a time of pastoral transition, worship attendance is excellent, giving to support the work of the church is at an all-time high, and in the last six months over 50 men and women have become new members of our church family. Oftentimes this does not happen in congregations when they are between pastors.
We will all get the chance to celebrate what God has and is doing here this Sunday when we gather for lunch and the Annual Meeting. I hope that you will come and join others in the congregation for a time of excellent food, fellowship, and informative updates about MPC’s ministry.
As Moderator for the meeting I promise you that we will conduct all of the business in a timely, efficient manner.
Until then, have a great week! I am blessed to be your Interim Pastor!
