From Pastor Davies – 10/25/16
Hurricane relief efforts continue here at MPC. Our best estimate is that approximately 100 families experienced moderate to severe damage from the storm. Of that number, about 20 families have been displaced from their homes. Hence, there is an immediate need for temporary housing. If you, or someone you know, can help, please get in touch with Hunter Camp. This need has also been made known throughout The Presbytery of St. Augustine.
Additionally, the church and its people are being assisted by the good folks of the Florida office of Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Gainesville. In fact, a team from First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville was in St. Augustine to provide much needed help last weekend. Kathy Broyard is the Executive Director/Emergency Management Specialist. She can be reached at 941-483-0675 firstname.lastname@example.org.
Gifts cards to area stores are also available for those who need them. You can get them from me or any church staff person. Emergency financial assistance is also available from the Burt Fund.
A special thank you must be given to Chris Walker, Facilities Manager, and his team of Tammy Bollinger and Megan Heaton, for their help with congregation members before, during, and after the storm.
The church staff is keenly aware that the recovery efforts from the hurricane will continue for many weeks and months. We are here to help. And remember – your pastors are available at any time for prayer and support.
May God’s blessings be upon our church family as we continue our efforts to help one another following the storm.
