From Pastor Camp — 11/7
Christians have long known that it is more blessed to give than it is to receive. In the last few years, studies have begun to show the benefits of generosity to our physical and mental well being. Studies now show that generosity gives us a greater sense of purpose, reduces stress, helps our physical health, and can even help fight depression.
We give because Jesus shows us that giving of ourselves and our money is an act of discipleship. Jesus said, “Those who seek to save their life will lose it and those who lose their lives for my sake will find it.” Generosity with our lives is part and parcel of what it means to be a Christian. We should strive to be ever more generous. Our giving increases as our faith increases. And our faith increases as our giving increases. Faith and generosity can be two sides of the same coin.
This Stewardship Season, as we continue to journey together, may you put yourself more fully in God’s hands, step out in faith, and give to a degree that you have never given before. If you do this, I promise that you will discover greater faith, freedom, and meaning.
