Boat Ministry

Have you ever experienced the heartfelt need to spend an entire day of recreation during glorious weather outdoors on the waters flowing through St. Johns County?  Have you felt the call to worship God with other believers and be spiritually nourished for the week?  Has the only day available been a Saturday or a Sunday?  Well, now you can do both - spend a day outdoors on the water in God's creation AND worship with others.

In the Gospel of Matthew, we read: That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea.  Such great crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there, while the whole crowd stood on the beach.  Matthew 13:1, 2 (NRSV)

Memorial Presbyterian Church (USA) of St. Augustine, Florida, has recently begun sponsoring an exciting approach to God's mission called the Matthew 13 Boat Ministry.  The Matthew 13 Boat Ministry seeks to offer Christian ministry through Bible study and reformed worship with those engaged in water-related, weekend activities in St. Johns County, Florida.  Boaters (power and sail), fishers (commercial and recreational), paddling enthusiasts (kayak and canoe), jet skiers, rowers (scullers and sweepers), surfers, wind surfers, beachcombers, campers, vacationers, any other interested folk, and the general public are invited to meet for worship on the water.

The services take place Saturdays at 1 PM on the water near the northwest end of Conch Island (Salt Run) and Saturdays at 5 PM on the water in the cove just north of the Matanzas Inlet.   Please look for the small green boat with the "Matthew 13 Boat Ministry" banner.  (All services are on a "weather permitting" basis.)
